To get an activation code, two things are required to be submitted to the activation server: 1) exact purchaser name as it appears on the invoice; and, 2) the Hardware ID. The Hardware ID must come from the computing device you will be operating the software on. Please Note: Version 6.0 requires that you are connected to the vehicle with OBD-II hardware interface to retrieve the Hardware ID. You are required to not only be cabled to the vehicle, but also that the ScanTool software has completed a connection (i.e., able to view live data.).
USB-based products will not require multiple activation codes for different computing devices. The same code will work as long as the USB hardware remains the same. In the case of serial-based products, the activation codes are made specifically for each computing device. You are allowed to have three activations within a 12 month period in this case.
The emailing process can be done by any computing device that can send or receive email and does not have to be done from the computing device you are activating.
Palm Users: Since we don't have any version past 4.1, please submit in the Notes this is a Palm verison. We need to make codes for the older software activation style.
The activation codes are not minor version specific (6.1 and 6.2, etc.) and this process will not be necessary every time the ScanTool updates. It will be necessary for all major release updates however.

Once the required information has been sent to AutoEnginuity, an email will return with an activation code within our business hours. Enter the code exactly as given to you. Enter the first series of numbers in the first box, the second series in the second box, and so on. You will be required to restart the software for the new activation codes to take effect.
